Remember the inspections we had scheduled for Friday? They didn't happen! The inspector went to the building next door.I only know this because they brought over papers, left in their mailbox, saying we had failed because the building was locked. It gets a bit confusing but 3 buildings on the same tax id tract have the exact same address. Our building would have been the one with the permit on the door and all the debris out back.It should have been common sense.Even though I am giving the city the benefit of doubt I called the atty.If they are trying to screw me I'm not going to lay down and take it quietly. The atty said if we haven't had our inspection by 11am on Monday to call him back and either him or his assistant would go sit in the building inspection office until they came to inspect with him or his agent present. He really would too.He just loves to fight the city on just about any issue that it's possible to fight over. This is good for us because he has become a pro at clogging the city down in paper work and being a big enough thorn that they will often settle just to get him to go away.He doesn't extort money from the taxpayers. Most of his victories are in considerations or overturning decisions on technicalities that give businesses more time or another chance they were unjustly denied. He is the reason we are still open at our current location. The city came in one day actually they sent in their police dept bullies to inform us they had made a mistake in letting our license be renewed by another jurisdiction for the past 9 years. They demanded we close immediately and never reopen at the same location.Isn't that some unfair shit?Late Friday afternoon I also called the dumb ass inspector that had failed the wrong building. He seemed nice and apologized several times. He knew there was a strip club there.I told him that was us ,the strip club.He assured me we would be his first appointment on Monday. We'll see.
The girls are all so paranoid I didn't tell them we hadn't been inspected.I just left an updated message saying we have another inspection scheduled for Monday and that we will reopen early next week. They are all paranoid that the city is going to bog us down in red tape and not allow us to reopen. If I let them know our 2ND inspection date didn't happen it will reaffirm their fears and cause them to panic and look for employment elsewhere.I didn't actually lie to them.I just chose my words carefully and left out certain unflattering facts. We should be able to open Wednesday night and that will only be one day behind the Tuesday deadline I gave them before.
Yesterday I went to Lowe's to pick up a rug and a piece of vinyl. The room is an odd shape and I couldn't find a vinyl remnant big enough that would fit in the car.The rolled vinyl they custom cut was even larger than the Pre-cut.I settled instead on a piece of remnant carpeting that was folded in half and taped. My two sons had come with me. Once at the car we quickly realized it wasn't going to fit.I called several people with bigger vehicles.Diana was the only one I could reach. She was across town at the grocery store.I was feeling quite silly with all the people in the parking lot staring at us with this over sized piece of carpet sticking out the door.It seemed obvious it wasn't going to work.Me being the stubborn and determined person I am refused to give up.It took about 15 minutes but I smashed and folded and smushed that carpet in.The doors barely closed and there didn't seem to be any room for either boy in the back seat.Neither of them were up for riding in trunk and sharing a seat or sitting in the others lap was even less of an option. In the end my 13 year old 5'7 145 lbs son wiggled his way into a laying(he couldn't fit sitting up) down position on top of the carpet.Luckily Adam's mother lives only a few blocks from there and we dumped the carpet out on her front porch before he got too many cramps.I know the lady waiting in car beside us got a great laugh and had to think I was a lunatic.Hell, I felt like a idiot myself. The boys said it was like riding in a clown car.My 13 year old said he was getting a new perspective on the world.I guess riding sideways will do that for you.
My small world theory proved true again.A couple of days ago a regular client came in and asked if there was any girls that would see him on an out call.He said his house had caught fire and he had some money left from the insurance. He pulled up his shirt and had an envelope with money sticking out the top tucked into his waistband.I called Serena and she set up for him to get a room and she would visit with him for an hour.He showed her his envelope and said there was $3200 there. He paid her then went into the bathroom leaving his cash on the dresser. He came rushing out a few seconds later and counted his money in front of her. When Diana came back to pick her up from the hotel the guy stood in the doorway as Serena came to the car.She asked if Diana had a quarter.Diana got a quarter out of the console and handed it to her.She walked back to the guy waiting in the door and handed him the quarter. When she got back in the car Diana asked "What was that all about?".After counting his money the client insisted she had stolen a quarter from the dresser.Serena couldn't believe he accused her of ignoring $3200 in bills and snatching a quarter. This guy had just given her $120 for the hour and another $100 for a tip and was now upset over the quarter he was convinced she had taken.Once assured she would return the coin when her ride arrived he was fine and they proceed to have a great fuck. Some people are just so weird.I guess it takes all kinds.Oh, I almost forgot the small world part. The next evening Carrie called angry that Serena was doing out calls. She couldn't figure out how Carrie would have known about it.The client had been Carrie's husband's boss.Carrie wasn't really mad just jealous. She is as broke as the rest of us and her husband will not let her do out calls.Being the way too nice person that I am,I did not take a cut of the out call but Serena did have to pay Diana for the ride.
